NATO Simulations.

Immerse yourself in the reality of NATO and gain a practical sense of the international security world by following our recreated North Atlantic Council simulation.

Atlantic Forum’s NATO simulations are a perfect fit for the development of young generations, as it assists them in discovering and developing crucial skills needed as young professionals in the field of international relations. Our trainers are experienced in simulations and giving training, and have been trained by Clingendael - the Netherlands Institute of International Relations. They are both professional and approachable.

Simulations.

North Atlantic Council Simulations, are conferences at which meetings held by NATO are simulated. Participants take the role of diplomats, to represent an allocated country and to strive together to a solution for contemporary issues in the world.

In the Anglo Saxon world, the conferences traditionally have been very popular and in the rest of the world the interest in these conferences is rising as well. Many attempts to set up NATO simulations result in more or less educated guesses at what working and procedures could be, but the outcome of such sandpit games is generally of the highest fantasy.

The most common mistake is to copy procedures of Model United Nations or European Union Simulations in an assumption that NATO procedures should not be too different. This is absolutely wrong and, beyond being inaccurate, it simply makes the simulation pointless. Participants in these mock NATO simulations will end up discussing the wrong topics in wrong formats with wrong procedures leading to wrong outputs.

Instead Atlantic Forum Academy works closely with NATO officials to recreate a North Atlantic Council simulation closest to reality as possible. These NATO simulations fit perfectly in the development process of young people; they will improve and discover many skills that will be very valuable for them as persons. They will improve their English, social skills, public speaking, negotiation, (self)reflection and creativity.

In the Atlantic Forum Academy, all these facets of their development will be encouraged and stimulated.
